By Ola Torkelsson – On September 9th 2018, Sweden went to the polls to elect a new government. The far-right Sweden Democrats (Sverigedemokraterna) became the third largest party, with 17.6%, up from 12.9% in 2014. The political landscape is changing in Sweden with the Sweden Democrats having enough votes in the Swedish parliament to potentially have a significant influence. No other block or party holds a majority in parliament so right now there is a deadlock situation in Swedish politics. The following reportage was made during the weeks before the election in August 2018. The story is about the Sweden Democrats annual summer festival in the town of Sölvesborg in the south of Sweden but also pictures from Malmö and Skurup with local politicians.
