By Anna Tärnhuvud – In early June 2011 seventeen years old Felicia Grimmenhag got hit by a car when she drove her moped. When she crushed against the car she got so badly injured that her both lunges collapsed. Then her heart stopped for 15 minutes. The doctors managed to get the heart started again but they had to amputate her both legs above the knees. After just two months at the hospital she decided to go back to high school. She wanted to graduate together with her friends.
Felicia's mother Åsa and step-father Anders is celebrating her 19th birthday at their home in Bålsta. Now she has two birthdays. At March 24, but also on the 13th of June. That is the day when she celebrates two years. Two years since the accident.Sometimes it feels like it's not her. As it happened to someone else.On the way to the school canteen together with her classmates at St. Erik High School, in Stockholm.At the end of first year in high school Felicia was wearing a short leopard dress. It was the day before the accident. Two years later, it still hangs with the other dresses left in the closet.When Felicia comes home after a long day of sitting in school, she has severe pain in the lower back.Felicia has spent more time at the Uppsala University Hospital than many do in a lifetime. Almost two years after the accident the doctor examines what she is no longer capable of doing. She says: - I was dancing a lot before. But this is something I can still do.When Felicia gets tired in her arms, her best friend Evelina helps out. When she gets tired in her legs, both are resting together.Nurses cried when they stepped into Felicia's room at the hospital. Walls were covered with posters, pictures and greetings from friends, family, classmates and from people that she barely knew.Felicia is going downtown to buy noodles and canned ravioli which she will bring to Hedemora. There she will take a three week long course to get her driving license.Pre partying in Bålsta turns into a night that ends at the nightclub Tivoli at Kungsholmen. To be able to get into various bars her friends have to carry her down or up the stairs.Felicia's left arm was seriously injured and covered in bandages for a whole month. When the stitches were removed, she was afraid that the tattoo that she had recently made would be destroyed.Pre-party with her friends at Kungsholmen. Along with Evelina Eriksson, Felicia Wallon and Mathilda Sahlström, Felicia is getting ready for a night at town.On Felicia's 19th birthday she goes to a concert of ''Bullet for my Valentine'' with her best friend Evelina. After the concert the guitar player Michael Paget came and invited the two girls to an after party with the band.Everyone said that she couldn't do it. This is what drove her to get up from the bed at the hospital so fast. On 7th of June 2013 Felicia Grimmenhag graduated from St Erik's high school at Kungsholmen. Almost exactly two years after the accident.Right after the accident Felicia's friends started the Facebook page Right after the accident Felicia's friends started the Facebook page Keep fighting Felicia Grimmenhag. This page has a thousand members. In November 2012 Felicia made a tattoo to say thanks for all the support they have given her.
